DARK SKY 2002

Introduction

DARK SKY 2002 – the «2nd European Symposium on the Protection of the Night Sky» will take place from 7-8 September 2002 in Lucerne, Switzerland.

On this second weekend in September the issue of light pollution will be in the centre of attention.

What is its influence on human beings and their environment?
Lighting regulations
Light pollution and outdoor lighting conceptions

These issues will be addressed by dark-sky activists and experts from all over Europe.
Beside interesting talks, poster presentations and discussions there will also be a visit to the public observatory of Lucerne, the renovated planetarium and the exhibition of the technical museum of Switzerland, and last but not least a symposium dinner on Saturday night.
So please reserve the weekend of 7 and 8 September 2002 already and get to know from first hand what‘s happening in Europe on light pollution prevention. We recommend you to arrive already on Friday, September 6, 2002 in Lucerne to join us in our visit to the observatory.
We invite you to register as soon as possible. We encourage you also to make a poster presentation. After registration you will receive detailed information and the programme. The main symposium language will be English.
We hope to see you soon in Switzerland!
